Inuming Taksil

Mindoro Sling

This is a rip-off of a rip-off.

Based on the popular Singapore Sling, the Mindoro Sling, which made its name in Puerto Galera (which is in Oriental Mindoro, thus the name) is a sweetish concoction that should not be taken lightly.  As opposed to its not too lethal predecessor, this one, despite tasting like a spiked juice is a big traitor – every shot is a step closer to blackout.  So much more its other variations, of course, that, when made at home, can be loaded with much, much more alcoholic content to give that hit that, when ordered in a bar, could cost way, way more.

Here’s a version called the traitor’s drink – for the aforementioned reason.

INGREDIENTS

Bottle of Ginebra San Miguel or GSM Blue
Bottle of Tanduay Rhum
Three cans of Gina Mango Nectar
1.5 liter Sprite
Two sweet ponkanas (fresh)
Apple sticks

PROCEDURE

  1. Blend one bottle or Ginebra San Miguel or GSM Blue with three cans of Gina Mango Nectar and crushed ice.
  2. Add the freshly squeezed juice of two sweet ponkanas, then blend some more.
  3. Pour in the bottle of Tanduay Rhum while transferring to a pitcher.  Stir.
  4. Add the Sprite only until the pitcher is full.
  5. Chuck in the apple sticks.
  6. Serve in a shot glass.

GLASS

Shot glass.

GARNISH

Apple sticks – not too thin, else it would no longer be crunchily chewable; but not to thick, either, else it won’t properly blend with the drink (aside from occupying too much space).
